Penis Prosthesis
c
Penis prostheses should only be considered – as a last resort – to treat erectile dysfunction (weak erections / impotence) if treatment with medication (VIAGRA, CIALIS, LEVITRA) or injections (SKAT) has not brought about the desired success, or the patient is unable to resort to those options. If prostheses are fitted, they provide a highly effective treatment and a blessing for the patient irrespective of age. Modern hydraulic prostheses, work the same way a penis normally does and are the most commonly implanted type. The prosthesis is inflated by a pump housed in the scrotum, which is therefore invisible but can still be felt. They are connected via hoses to a salt water-filled balloon in the lower abdomen. When the man wants an erection, it takes just a few seconds for fluid to be pumped from the balloon into cylinders inserted to replace the actual erectile tissue. The cylinders fill up making the penis stiffen in the same way it does during an organic erection.
Following sexual intercourse, slight pressure on a small valve close to the testis is all that is needed for the penis to return to its flaccid state. Hydraulic penile prostheses are popular with both patients and their partners. Satisfactory results can only be gained through a high quality prosthesis installed by an experienced surgeon.
Owning to the vast experience of our doctors the operation does not require hospitalization of the patient. This means that the patient can return home the same day of the operation and resume his normal daily activities after 2 days and sexual activities after 4 weeks.
